Recruiting
New Members
Almost every
time I am playing Disc Golf, I meet new players or onlookers who
want to know what I am doing. This is an excellent time to
recruit new people to our sport and clubs.
I encourage
everyone who plays Disc Golf, to
actively seek out these people as you play and take a minute to
explain that Disc Golf is a organized sport and there are local
clubs devoted to its promotion. Give them a score card. Invite
recreation players to view a tournament or league night.
Chances are if they see me play (they will be thinking – I can
play better than this clown), they will be encouraged to sign up
and play themselves.
Also, make
sure they are aware that there are several amateur and pro
divisions depending on age and ability. This will also help
reduce intimidation.
And finally,
don’t forget to tell them about the Bucks County Disc Golf
Alliance and our meetings: BCDGA (www.bcdga.com),
MADC (www.madisc.org),
PDGA (www.pdga.org),
and (if your in God’s Country “Pennsylvania”)
