League Night starts April 20th at 6pm, runs for 18 weeks. Get there early to sign up and pay up. $30 for new players and $25 for renewals. The Jersey Johns will be running thing as Matt “I can get you a great deal on a Saturn” will be busy selling cars and unable to join us. We’ll miss your witty reviews Matt. Any review writer volunteers? There will be gold and silver divisions again this year, I am just waiting to get the details from Matt on how he did this last year. We’ll be happy to run a ladies only league if we get enough ladies to come out. HINT HINT!
April 17th – The long awaited End of the Year / 2004 League Night Awards party is finally here. Starts at 2pm at Marc and Nikki’s house, 1266 West Maple Ave Langhorne PA. Andrew is bringing Ribs as well as Sausage & peppers & green beans. We are looking for volunteers to bring sides, salads and deserts. Beer and drink will be provided by the club. Please email Nikki at nlbnikki@msn.com to coordinate foods or to get directions to their house. If the weather is good we’ll play some catch, double disc court, maybe horse shoes or putt at Marc’s baskets. Kids are welcome.
April 17th – The Buddha returns. 9:30 am Tyler State Park tee off, 1 round of disc golf. Open and am divisions, do not have to be pro to play in the open division for this. It is open to all paid 2004/2005 league nighters/club members. Trophies are Buddha trophies. The Open divisions gets a HUGE Buddha, Nick has 3 or 4 at home he has won in the past. Great time, only $10, come on out.
April 17th – During the picnic we are also collecting bottles for this years Basket of Cheer raffle, please everyone bring one bottle with you, that is how we make this a great fundraiser, we ask the members to donate the prizes. Email fly_n_sqrrl@hotmail.com or mur6286@aol.com to coordinate bottles so we do not get too many of the same kind. Feeling generous? We will not turn down multiple bottles. Wine is good, hard liquor preferred, beer discouraged. The deadline for bottle is May 1st, you can bring them to league night if you do not make it to the picnic. We want to start the raffle June 1st and have the drawing the first Tuesday in August at the meeting.
April 9th & 10th – That’s this weekend, we are doing a special cleanup at the park in conjunction with the park personnel. Both day from 9am – 3pm the park is providing us 2 employees and a chipper and we are going to walk the path from the Lower Plantation parking lot over to hole 16 and chip all the wood on the side of the path, within a few feet of the path. Joe Mela will be coordinatig what gets pulled and what does not. All the chips will be dumped where we need them, like at hole 6. All these chips are for our benefit so come on out even if you can not stay for long. The club is buying lunch. Meet at the lower plantation parking lot at 9am or you can meet at the maintenance shed if you get there earlier.
Lottery recap, it was success. The club netted $575 after selling 90 tickets.
The Johnny Boge on March 26th was also a success with 38 players, $42 raised towards the hole 27 fund and over $300 profit for the club.
There is going to be a Fun & Fitness day in Bensalem June 4th from 10-2. Steve Agocs has displayed disc golf here for many years in a row and is looking for a few volunteers to help him out.
We are supplying a build list to the park this week for a new shed. They are buying us the wood and we will build it.
We had another lengthy discussion re: memberships and the like and it was decided to not change our membership structure for this year. A committee was formed to analyze this and to present suggestions by the end of the year. This committee consists of John McGinley, Joe Mela. Scott Murray and Stephen Caffery. Did you know we also have a family membersip for $50, you, your spouse and all your 16 and under kids can join for one low price.
Steve Agocs is going to research if it is possible to get insurance on the baskets at the course.
Scott is going to look into having a bowling party 3rd or 4th weekend in September.
To confirm, we are going to run a ˝ page ad in the Disc Golf World News advertising the Yetter and the Yetter Preview. We will run at least one ˝ page ad in the Nice Up for the same two tournaments. We will buy a ˝ page ad as sponsorship in the Worlds program, advertising the same two tournaments. Jenny is beginning work on flyers, logos, ads, etc for all our tournaments.
Fundraiser incentives – we agreed to a standard for rewarding big sellers in fundraising. Based off of the net profit of that fundraiser we will award 1st place 8% of the profit, 2nd place 5% and 3rd place 2%. The Basket of Cheer raffle has the potential to bring in $1500 profit, you do the math.
Get sponsors!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! We need them for the Great Eastern and The Yetter. Prizes and cash, we take it all. Stay tuned, we’ll send out sponsorship forms soon, should be the same as last year as far as values and payback to the sponsor.
Rex discussed a priority list for our club to focus on. A copy is attached for everyone to review and of course comment on.
We will have membership card this year, I promise.
Do not forget meetings are the first Tuesday of every month at The Clubhouse in Newtown PA. We have our own room, 10% off the bill, prices are decent, and we’ll get 20% off if we get 20 people or more.
We hope to run a King of The Course Tournament this year during league night season.
Also feel free to email the cabinet your concerns or suggestions at cabinet@bcdga.org We want to know what you think, regardless if you consider yourself just a league nighter or are a die hard club member, we respect your thoughts and encourage you to share them with us. It can only make everything better for everyone. We are even willing to take compliments.
