General Discussions:
Tinicum Disc Golf Course: It was agreed upon that the prudent course of action should be to contact Matt LaCourte (Scott Murray to handle) and explain our position...The BCDGA would like to suspend (turnover) ownership/management of Tinicum Disc Golf Course to the Owls. If the Owls are in agreement, then the BCDGA (Andrew Sweeton to handle) would draft a letter stating the turnover to Owls and point person to Tinicum Park officials. Included in letter, would be the stipulation that if the Park ever decided to remove the Disc Golf Course from Tinicum, the BCDGA (having ownership of most of the baskets) would be notified and dismantle the course (securing the baskets, sleeves, locks, etc...). Having agreed on content and signed by BCDGA and Owls, we would then submit to Tinicum County Park management. Deadline to complete this task: December 31, 2003.
Tournament dates:
Tourney dates are needed by MADC. We need to get the tentative schedule to Matt and realign our tourney schedule for submission to MADC before end of month MADC meeting. This will have to be done on line via Cabinet. I suggest Matt or Joe Margay contact Steve Winchester or Nick Kight for what the MADC has so far. Then let's start to manipulate or confirm via cabinet email.
Also: Scott Murray will contact Brian "Guru" H. at PDGA about the possibility of switching ECY Champs with GE Am or obtaining an alternate date that would allow a better Pro turnout. At the same time: Scott will plead our case to keep our "A" tier status. PDGA is taking a hard line stance with "A" tier tourney requirements but given our history and "Memorial" status, it is worth a try. (cry if you need to Scott).
ECY Champs' Cup:
We generally agreed to have the 2004 ECY Champs' Cup either all at Tyler or at Tyler/Wash.Xing.
To this end, it was also decided to try and schedule at least some sort of smaller event (one day) at Wash Xing with portable baskets prior to seeking permission for a permanent course at that site.
Tyler Course Design Committee:
It was decided that in order to enhance participation in work days as well as involve more members in the design of new holes/changes at Tyler, we would use a point person (John Birkem) to form a committee of three people (Nick Knapp and Chris Robbins -volunteers) to work on course hole design. Final changes would be presented to Course Pro Joe Mela for approval through Park officials. Joe believes there is a good chance for the BCDGA to obtain use of enough land at the park to expand to 36 holes (2 x 18), possibly establishing an East-West or North-South courses.
This is in the idea stage, but everyone agreed the design committee is an excellent place to begin.
Bake Sale @ Disc Golf Biggest Weekend:
Amanda (sp?) suggested that we do a family/fun/picnic/bake sale day at park where we could have instruction - "how to play disc golf" for anyone attending. This idea was well received and it was determined that Disc Golf Biggest Weekend (usually first Sat. in May) would be the perfect day for this (with Rain date). Info for flyers should be routed to "Hobie" at rhay@customessence.com .
If you have ordered a BCDGA vest or shirt from Andrew Sweeton, please see him with $ and pick them up. Hats will be available at a later date. Andrew has extra shirts and vest for those of you who want to do your Xmas shopping early.
