- League night week 7 recap.
Oh yeah summer time is here,
and so are the bugs. Okay hot players in the hot temps were
Bob Cicak with a 14 stroke improvement for a 63, Dave
Martinez shooting 12 strokes better with a 52, Harry Baker a
10 stroke better 71 and Glenn Patterson with a 10 stroke
better
57. None of those people were hot enough to beat a 10 down
47 by Joe Mela, or the next hottest 49 by John Murphy. In
general all but 3 people improved this week, thanks in part
to a 57 par layout, hmmmm, maybe? Anyway schnide-outs go to
Chris Robbins who was off his game by 6 strokes and shot a
59, and Terry Ruth and Ian Hay were 1 worse than last week.
Minor, but hey I need someone to schnide. I should schnide
myself only because of how my back 9 were versus my front
nine.
Honorable mention hot players were Jon Benner throwing 9
strokes better and Russ Botson throwing 8 strokes better.
Next raffle drawing in 5 weeks. Lots of ace pots to be
hit. Divisional breakdowns to be posted soon. 46 players
for week 7, I hope everyone is having fun. If you know any
of the folks who have not been there but 1 week, ask them if
we did something wrong to keep them away or if it is just a
timing issue.
Heard on the course:
Nothing..... I did not hear anything witty this week. I
think the heat affected
our brains.

- League night week 6 recap.
It was a beautiful day in the
neighborhood, wasn't it? 43 players
for week 6, and no one new. However, we had the first 50/50
drawing
this week and the winner was.......... Tom Potts. I trust
Tom will
bring chocolate milk for all of us next week, to celebrate
his $104
winnings.
Hot, well I guess at least lukewarm. Stu Kaplan was 9
better for a 60,
Boyd Benner 8 better with an 83, Jay Klein 7 better with a
60 and
Chris was top shooter for the week with a 53, 7 better than
last week,
nice round Chris. All kidding aside, well done folks to
improve or stay
stable in that layout, it is not a cake walk.
Schnide Report: Oh my this is a good schnide week, not
because of
how many are on the schnide, but whom. Nick "what is email"
Knapp
slides 11 strokes off last weeks hot round to a 67. I bet
his arm
is tired from throwing all those extra strokes. No one else
was more
than 5 strokes off their game, so Nick gets the Schnide
Spotlight to
himself.
Week 7 will bring the start of a new 50/50 raffle and a new
layout.
Par 58 I do believe. See you then. Thanks for finding my
disc Bob.
Heard on the course:
"Your homework is to identify the genus of that skull."
"Boy does that deserve a schnide comment."

- Week 5 Recap - Hey Guys and Gals,
Another glorious week for
Summer League 2006! The Rain threatened by it never
came. We had a total of 51 players with 6 new arrivals and
the return of course pro Joe Mela after a two week
absence!! Guess somebody was wrong!! Week 5
Highlights!!! Hot round 56 Nick "The Snap" Knapp recovered
after losing by one to Ryan last week to tally a 56!
Other Great improvements:
Coefer knocked off 6, Jacobson, Baker, Discher and C. Ott
knocked off 4, Reilly knocked off 7, Ellis knocked off 5(No
Taz in her group) But the really big movers and shakers: Stosch
knocked off 11, McGorry knocked off 12, Bob Z knocked off
13, I didn't see any lightning but damn there is proof it
struck!!!
Now as for the curse of the
snide: Slight Slips from their normal stellar
performances: New nickname for Alan Sweeton the "Lumber
Jack" when he couldn't take out a tree with his knuckles he
resorted to using plastic.."Who is this Jay Klien guy
anyway?" took a small slide, on the snide! Dugas got bitter
taste in his mouth but it couldn't dampen his spirits!, J.
Brooks and Cicak Well, Blame it on Kieffer!! But Driscoll
got the biggest hit of the snide, Thank God it normally only
lasts one week!!!
Later All, Hope to see you
all out for Week 6, Be there for the first 50/50 pull!
Good Luck All,
JAFO

- Week 4 Recap - Okay folks sorry for the delay in this folks, here is the week
4 recap. Good turn out with 46 players, of whom 5 were brand
new, bring our this summer total up to 62 players. This was
week1 of this particular layout, playing par 62, and boy did we
feel it. This week I define the hot players as anyone shooting
under par, which was John Murphy with a 55, Taz with a 58, Marc
Brooks with a 60, and Justin Ryan with a 61, nice shooting guys.
Nick Knapp, Rex Hay, Chris Robbins and Jay Klein all threw par,
again, nice going guys. In many ways I actually rate the
following players as hotter, because they were the less than 10
strokes more than the week before, Taz 3 strokes more, John
McGinley 4 strokes more, Bob Cicak 5 strokes more, Robert Hewski
6 strokes more and Jay Klein, Justin Ryan and Chris Robbins were
7 strokes more. EVERYONE else felt the pain of the layout and
shot 10 or more strokes worse than week 3, putting 29 players on
the schnide. The schnide standouts are, myself and Bill Stosch
with 20 strokes over week3, Steve Bannon with 21 strokes, and
sorry I have to, Kevin McGorry 31 strokes off of week 3. Wow
what a layout. I also want to say welcome back to Matt Ott and
Ray Kieffer. Let me take time to throw out a global welcome to
all new summer leaguers this year, we hope your enjoying
yourselves.
Recap will be brought to you by John for week 5 as I will not be
there,
and do not forget, the first 50/50 drawing is May 24th, week 6,
the pot
is already at $144, divided in half of course.
Heard on the course:
"I love a challenge, I am a blonde."
"If you don't want to hear me talk, shut up."
"Justin shot better than Nick and Chris?"

- This weekend Marc and Rex finished putting the trim
on the shed with some assistance from Alan. Once the shed
is painted it should match other park structures. The park
is providing the paint and Jerry Jacobson is providing the
labor.

- Congratulations Chris and Amanda Robbins.

Chris and Amanda Robbins were married May 6th,
2006. Many BCDGA disc golfers attended the ceremony to
witness the exchanging of the vows. Above we see Chris and
Amanda as they are first introduced into the reception hall.

- Worlds Biggest update
Fellow club members, The Worlds Biggest Disc Golf Weekend was
a huge success in making the general public more aware of what
our sport is all about. Special thanks to John McGinley, Alan
Sweeton, John Birkrem, and Scott Murray in giving four hours of
their time to share with park goers what our sport is all about.
The added bonus at this event was the fact that on Saturday
alone 50 individuals did something that they never did before,
they played Disc Golf by putting at a temporary basket. Sunday
was another success getting 30 to 50 park goers to give Disc
Golf a try by trying to putt. Saturday was a fun filled day with
Allan, JAFO, JB, and myself playing a game of horse while
inviting passers by the opportunity to give disc golf a try by
taking a practice putt. Sunday was a bit more challenging as it
was just Scott Murray and myself. On this day there were several
charity walks going on in the park. One of them had several
booths set up making it hard for us to find a spot where we’d
stand out and have a chance to reach out to walkers. We landed
on a spot just off the walking bridge/dam where there were
plenty of walkers to offer the chance to... [Read

- Summer League Recap - 49 players another
record!
WOW!!!! Another new record, I am not sure I can take any more of
this, keep it coming, don't stop now! Yeee HAAA! 49 players for
week 3, with 8 new to this year league, bringing us to a grand
total of 57 players enrolled so far this year. Great job in
spreading the word everyone, we can tell it is working. Matt
Lowe leads the week with a 12 stroke improvement, shooting a 43.
Nick Knapp following him with a 2nd week in a row 44. Great
shooting guys. 4 players shot under 50, 19 players shot par (55)
or under. I can not wait to see what happens next week. 3
players saw 8 stroke improvements in their games, Bill Stosch
(57), Marc Brooks (50), Boyd Benner (72). SCHNIDE! Well you know
I have my bad
days too, but everyone loves the schnide, so we will ha...
