06-28-2006 - Week 11 Recap - Okay well the rain held off, and I appreciate it for doing so.  Well, finally someone hit an ace last night.  Chris Robbins, congratulations sir, you are the proud winner of $50.  Ace was on hole #21.  I could hear him shouting from hole #14 so I knew something big happened.  Good job Chris.

Well par being 62, I'd say 9 under is a hot score.  John Murphy rolled in with a 53, 7 strokes better than last week.  Nick Knapp 55, a 6 stroke improvement, Taz a 56, Trenton Franz a 57, Marc Brooks a 58 and Jay Klein a 59, rounding out the under 60 players.  Some other players throwing better were Bill Stosch with a 7 stroke improvement and Steve Bannon with a 6 stroke improvement. Schnide time: Bob Seaman drops 7 from the previous week, followed by Dave Martinez and Art Discher throwing 5 strokes worse.  Others were unable to improve from the previous week, those 3 were just the highlights.

End of Summer League Party will be September 24th at Marc Brooks' house in Langhorne PA.

Next 50/50 raffle will be next week.

The results link should now show your divisions.  PLT - Platinum, GLD - Gold, SIL - Silver, BRN - Bronze, UNR - Unrated.  These divisions were based off of your average of the first 9 weeks, for those who have played at least 4 weeks.

Heard on the course:
Trees falling and limbs falling from trees.

06-21-2006 - Week 10 Recap - Alrighty then, 2 more newbies to the league, bringing us up to 73 participants, love it! Longer layout definitely took it's toll on a few people. Two players improved their scores from week 9, Justin Ryan by 5 strokes and Scott Murray by 1 stroke. Par was 62, Matt Lowe and Joe Mela came in at 6 under with 56's. Jay Klein close behind with a 57 and Dave Martinez closing the under 60 crowd with a 59. Taz, John Murphy, Marc Brooks, Trenton Franz all shot 60, Tom Kady, Alan Sweeton and Nick Knapp all shot 61, ending the under par players. Schnide, wow, as I said, the longer layout was brutal to a lot of folks, which, I can understand, personally. That being said, we know the schnide shows little mercy, Robert Hewski, 17 strokes off with a 74, Scott Koldhoff 14 off with a 79, Skip Millard 16 off with an 80, Bill Stosch 15 off with a 76, Rex Hay off by 13 with a 63, and Walt Breuninger off 10 with a 75. The good thing is I believe everyone will play better next week. RIGHT???!?!?!?!?

League party date has changed, it will now be Sunday September 24th at Marc Brook's house.

Next 50/50 raffle will be in 2 weeks.

Heard on the course:
"Hey, JoJo is back!"

06-16-2006 to 06-18-2006 - Pittsburgh Flying Disc Open

Road Trip - The majority of us arrived at the Neshaminy parking lot around 5:15pm on Friday night only to find that our rental passenger van was in Delaware on a trip of its own.  After much cursing, waiting and a sniper attack on the BCDGA president (actually he was hit in the face by a stray lid which caused Andrew minor injury over the eye and his glasses flew off into Nick's hands) in the Neshaminy mall parking lot the van arrived around 6:45pm with Rex at the wheel.  The gear and 3 went in the truck and the rest of us piled into the van and took off down the turnpike towards Pittsburgh.  Little did we know Mario Andrewetti Sweeton was at the wheel in his giant ford truck.  Captain Rex stayed in Mr. Andrewetti's draft for the entire 350 mile trip.  Which put us into Pittsburgh in an astounding 4.5 hours with a stop for gas and dinner.  The van stayed between 85 and 90mph during the entire trip.  Once we arrived we checked in at the Comfort Inn in Cranberry, PA around Midnight.  After a good nights sleep we dropped the AMs at Knob Hill and the pros went to Morraine to play thier rounds.  After the rounds on Saturday were complete we gathered the 12 of us for a feast at the Lonestar next to our hotel.  Sunday we dropped the pros at Knob Hill and sent the AMs to Morraine for the first round in the morning.  Once the morning round was complete the AMs shuttled the 30 minute drive back to Knob Hill to see who qualified to play the final round.  Nearly everyone qualified and completed the round.  After walking up the Knob Hill "Mountian" for the last time we were greeted by a food buffet for all the players.  A CTP contest was completed where 12 throwers competed to win a bicycle.  Joe Mela had 2 throws at the basket but could not compete against the eagle eye and pinpoint accuracy of Andrew Sweeton who easily placed his disc 3 feet from the basket with his one and only attempt.  After awards we gathered the caravan together and headed home.  The trip back was uneventful and less high speed than the trip up.  We arrived at Neshaminy around 12:30am or so and unpacked and went home to get some sleep and head to work the next day.

06-14-2006 - League Night week 9 recap

Alright now that was better, 38 players including 3 new faces.  Total of 71 participants so far this year, the season is half over.  This week found the early players dry and the late players absolutely soaked to the bone drenched, I mean I am talking WET!!!!!!!! Okay par was 57, I wonder if you can adjust par for the rain?  Anyway, 2 players smoked with 7 under par, Rex Hay & Matt Lowe, I believe these were dry rounds, but nice shooting.  Jay Klein and Taz came in with 51s, Joe Mela shot 52 and Dave Martinez and Robby Hendrick shot 54. In certain standards Jay Klein was the hottest with a 9 stroke improvement over last week.  Schnide, well it is a boring week, only Steve Bannon had a 2 stroke worse week this week from last week, everyone else improved or did not play last week.

Sorry folks, you'll have to check the website for the scores, saving time and not including them here.

League party date has changed, it will now be Sunday September 24th at Marc Brook's house.

Heard on the course:
"We can't get any wetter."
"Murph' fell in the river on nine."
"No he didn't, no he didn't, it's not true, I don't want you to write about it."
"Yeah I saw one group hiding in the bathroom during the rain."
"My disc floated down the course 20 feet, does that count?"

06-07-2006 - League night week 8 recap.

It was a dark and rainy night, and 20 loyal soles faced the rain and
shot.... well they came out and played disc golf anyway. I must admit the
rain had stopped by the end of my round, but my feet were especially soaked.  I hope my disc golf shoes dry out before Saturday. Do all the Amateur rated players know the Great Eastern Amateur Cup is this Saturday at Tyler State Park?  Well you do now. Check out our website for entry fees, and I'll see you there.

Okay now that the commercial is over, back to the league recap. Hot was 4 under par, a score of 53, thrown by Tom Kady, nice going Tom. Only one other player shot better this week than last week and that was Jerry Jacobson with a 2 stroke improvement, throwing 64. Well as always, the Schnide is an honest yet brutal abuser who takes no prisoners, this week, in the wet & rain is no exception. First on the schnide, is well, myself, slipping, literally at times, 8 strokes to bring in a horrid 81. (Horrid is my opinion.) Now we also have a special guest on the schnide this week, someone unfamiliar to this part of the recap, Joe Mela, who was 10 strokes off his game this week to bring in a 57. Joe had doubts anyone would do better in that weather. What Joe did not realize was, the later in the day you started, the better off you were as the rain and wind let up a little bit. Now last on the schnide, is a global inclusion to everyone who did not play yesterday. It's disc golf, what could be better to do on a Wednesday afternoon. :-)

Okay time for the next commercial. End of the season Summer League party is going to be held September 10th, 1pm, at the Brooks house in Langhorne PA. Spouses and children are welcome to come. In addition to handing out prizes, and having a bbq we hope the weather will permit, some double disc court, guts, ultimate or other fun with flying devices.
