- The Johnny Boge Classic Recap
37 players turned out for a great day of disc golf.
Even though the skies were cloudy, the rain stayed
away. And with temperatures in the low 50’s with
light winds, the conditions made for a pleasant
spring day.
The tournament format
was 1 round of 27 holes, followed by 1 round of 18
holes. In the Pro division, Joe Mela opened with a
75, followed by Scott Howard with 78 and Robin
Billig a 79. After the 2nd round Mela and Howard
were tied after Howard shot 51 and Mela carded a
54. It only took 1 playoff hole and Scott Howard
took 1st place and $70.
In
the Grand Masters division, Bill Yerd cruised to
victory over Steve Agocs by 5 stokes and took home
the $36 prize
Mary Redheart easily won her division and $18. She
was the only woman to show up! And for this, she
also was awarded a Derek Sonderfan CD, “Love Is
Kinda Funny Sometimes”.
The AM 1 division went down to the 45th hole to
decide a winner. Alan Sweeton took a 4 stoke lead
over Stu Kaplan into the start of the 2nd round.
Stu was able to keep the pressure on and the two
were tie with 1 hole to play. But in the end Alan
was able to prevail by 1 stroke and hold on to
victory.
And finally in the AM 2 division, after starting the
2nd round tied for 6th place both Phil Davis and
Chris Haring each shot hot 2nd rounds, with Phil
coming out on top with the victory by 3 strokes over
Chris. Way to go Phil!
Special thanks go out to Andrew Sweeton for helping
me run the tournament. Your help was greatly
appreciated! |
